A World of Octobers

“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.”.

-Anne Shirley, Anne of Green Gables

HELLO FALL…

Well, it’s officially been Fall for a few weeks now, but it didn’t feel like it yesterday; at least not up here in Eastern Washington! It was 80º when I started writing this newsletter yesterday, and my hot tea was definitely not the beverage I should have chosen yesterday afternoon! Fortunately today is feeling much more fall-like and cozy!

But, the unseasonably warm weather aside, October always flips that switch for me when I move into full-on busy mode. Our Fall Candle Collection launched and now I’m busily gearing up for Christmas!

I was fortunate enough to be able to take some time off this summer to spend with my kids, but get ready because you will be seeing me a lot more at the shop on the weekends!

Speaking of weekends, I am excited to announce that we will be opening once again on Sundays, at least through Christmas. My best friend in the whole world and her partner are opening the Blackthorne Neighbourhood Pub just a few doors down from my shop, and she and I are cooking up some fun ways to entice people to visit Downtown Kennewick on Sundays! We want to partner with other businesses down here and spearhead a new mindset about Downtown Kennewick - one that shifts from rolling up the sidewalks on Sunday to being a hang-out destination spot! So, stay tuned for more information as The Blackthorne gets closer to opening!

We will also continue participating in Downtown Kennewick’s “First Thursday Art Walk” by staying open until 7PM on the first Thursday of every month AND we are excited to start participating in Rise and Shine Bakeshop’s “Third Friday” event by being open until 7PM every third Friday as well! There are so many local Downtown businesses working to make Downtown Kennewick a shopping destination and we are here for it!

SOMETHING PRETTY COOL HAPPENED THIS SUMMER…

…YOU VOTED US THE “BEST BOUTIQUE” IN THE TRI-CITIES!

Remember when we asked you to please vote for us in the Tri-City Herald’s Tri-Cities Best contest in the categories of Boutique, Specialty Shop, and Place to buy a gift? Well In August, not only did we win GOLD in the “Best Boutique” category, We won SILVER for the second year in a row in the “Place to Buy a Gift” category! to say that I was blown away is an understatement and I cannot express my gratitude to all of you for your love and support. This is more than a shop to me. It is a place of community and a safe space to gather and explore spirituality. The shop wouldn’t be here without all of you, so this award is really for all of you.

Because of these amazing wins, I have been thinking about how I can best embrace the “boutique” aspect of the business. The shop has grown so much since its inception nearly 6 years ago, and I feel it is time to lean into what being a “metaphysical boutique” means to me: community, quality, integrity, sustainability, and the functional beauty of all our offerings, not just the things I hand make. You may think, “but Erin, you already do that!” and that is true, but I want everyone who hears the name Earth Spirit to know that they can come here for not only knowledge and community but for the best metaphysical tools that the artisans of Tri-Cities and surrounding areas have to offer. This space is so much more than just candles and jewelry.

With this, you will see a change in logo, embracing the boutique aspect (which I’m sure some of you may have already noticed) and a unifying of the shop’s branding and colors across all our platforms as well as in the shop itself. If you haven’t been in to see our new purple seating area, you will definitely want to pop in for a tarot reading! This is the vision for the shop that I’ve always been working towards and I’m excited to see the shop grow into this new phase! Rest assured, everything you love about Earth Spirit will continue. It’s just going to keep getting better! None of this would be possible without the love and support from all of you and please know that I am eternally grateful to get to serve you.

CAN YOU BELIEVE THE SHOP IS ALMOST 2?

Speaking of your love and support, we are beyond excited to celebrate our 2nd shop anniversary this month! When we opened, we probably could’ve opened a couple weeks earlier than when we did but I thought, “If the metaphysical shop doesn’t open on Halloween weekend, what am I even doing with my life?” So, our anniversary will always coincide with Downtown Kennewick’s Boo Bash Trick-or-Treat Extravaganza and that suits us just fine.

This year, the party falls on October 28th and the fun starts at 10 AM. We will have giveaways, lots of candy, costumes, and the first 20 customers to spend $20+ will get a goodie bag filled with delicious treats from our neighbors, Layered Cake Artistry! There will be street vendors, food, and one of the biggest trick-or-treat events in the Tri-Cities! We can’t wait to celebrate this milestone with you!

And, finally, if you haven’t listened to this already, Fleetwood Mac put out a never-before released live concert of the Rumors album! It is incredible! I’ve been listening non-stop! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
